Is Anime Popular in India? is a question that every person who has just been exposed to anime medium asks and he\she might even believe the prejudice that says that Anime is not popular in India and will not be in the coming 10 years.

Well certainly, that statement isn’t aging well and anime is becoming popular in India at an incredible pace. in the past 3 or 4 years some crazy events have taken place in the Indian anime community that proves that Anime is not only becoming popular but also attracting a cult of dedicated fans towards it who will be the foundation of a fully grown and mature Anime fanbase of India.

Makoto Shinaki The director of the one of the biggest hits of Anime Medium Kimi no na wa. traveled all the way from Japan to Delhi to see his film exclusively being screened on Indian Theaters even before the worldwide release. Weathering With You

released on India theaters and become The Highest grossing non English foreign film in India.

The Fans did a warm and energetic welcome for their beloved director. the film was exclusively screened in Delhi’s Saket CityWalk PVR on 27 September 2019 and was officially released in Indian Theaters on 11th October 2019. Special thanks to Vkaao and all Cinema chains for being a backbone of the anime fans of India.

It’s not a stretch to say that Netflix is the future for Anime streaming in India. while a lot of other streaming services and independent YouTube channels such as Muse Asia are working very hard to avail legal anime yet none of them even compare to Netflix. You will find almost All the Popular titles on Netflix and you don’t have to use VPN for that. a lot of obscure titles are also available on Netflix and they are keep adding more.

It is obvious that at this point the popularity of Anime content will only continue to grow among the Indian Fans. Almost all the Makoto Shinkai films are confirmed to release in Indian Theaters. also a lot of other franchise films like Dragon Ball and Demon slayer are confirmed to come in Indian theaters. Netflix will continue to add and produce more titles.

In short, the Indian audience will not stay deprived of anime content in coming years and the rest of work the incredibly loyal and dedicated Anime fans of India will do themselves.
