They were both buddies in getting trump into office, but then as trump's tariffs and tax cuts started undoing and hurting both elon's businesses and his efforts to "reduce waste" in government by cutting spending, it was one hand not knowing what the other was doing. Also, Elon was only temporarily working as a special employee, so now he can't do anything else anymore, and saw his work undone with the "big beautiful bill" (real legal name) being passed, and isn't happy.

Basically Musk is mad that congress took all his work and said "nah fuck this we like overspending" and Trump, who's used to this, is putting up with it and Musk feels betrayed like a jilted lover and he's crying about it.
I don't really care about it since it makes literally 0 difference for me, but i think it's something that was always gonna happen Trump and musk were always just using each other and they are both narcissistic dumbasses who got lucky with investments and inheritances and see themselves as genius for it.
