In general I respect the philosophy of Hinduism and the history but I think modern Indians focus too much on being proud of their history and not changing the problems they face today. And the politicians and police are very corrupt, the leaders twist Hinduism and use it to control the people, causing extremism (cow lynchings) even though Hinduism says to respect other people's beliefs. The politicians too often use Islam as a scapegoat and control the masses through Hindu nationalism, turning people's eyes away from them pocketing the money of the people. I think Kerala has done a great job of correcting these issues, they have a very high literacy and employment rate. In general I think the South Indian culture of education is very good but there is still lots of problems like casteism, colorism, misogyny. Most Indians I know will say all of their problems were caused by the British. The British may have started it but the Government uses this excuse to not fix their problems.
