I just started reading Death Note, I watched the anime years ago. I'm going to ask you guys the same one you've probably already heard multiple times: Was Light doing the right thing? Was he truly making the world a better place?

No, it’s basically like giving more money to police instead of solving the root problems that cause people to commit crimes, he could have used the death note to threaten governments to prioritize important issues and prevent crime instead of killing petty criminals. And he was just a tweaker that wanted power

Watch Kira laugh on .25x , it'll sound like mc is moaning. Good thing is that , he genuine sociopath mass killer . If someone were to get death note in this generation. Humans are cooked especially.

Initially, I think he had some good ideas, though I do think that since people are wrongfully convicted all the time, it was a mistake, though I do see where he is coming from. He did straight-up murder several innocent people, like the FBI agents, and other people that were close to discovering him, so he was 100% a serial killer based off of that alone. Overall he was in the wrong, and the fact that the wrongful conviction rate is 2-10 percent, he killed many, many innocent people.

I am not saying Light was right or wrong, but I would have done way worse things if I had a death note.

Whether he was doing the right thing, he was doing it for the wrong reasons. He had a massive god complex, and it was all to stroke his own ego and self importance. Whether his actions were justifiable is more complicated. If we could look at crime statistics and see that his actions objectively lowered the amount of crime, pain and suffering across the world then you could say that the sacrifice of a few criminals was worth it, but I also think you'd have to consider the world wide fear and trauma of knowing that at any moment some invisible power could kill you arbitrarily for any perceived crime or wrongdoing. Is the suffering caused by that constant fear greater than the suffering caused by crime?

Not taking his motives into account. It's clear that he did it for himself.
