The U.S. "War on Terror" wasnt about terrorism or even oil. Between 2001 and 2016, none of the nations that the U.S. targeted, invaded, toppled and/or destabilized— Iraq, Syria, Libya, Iran, Egypt, etc— were direct threats to the United States. All were hostile to the nation of Israel. All the money spent, all of the destruction, all of the poverty, starvation, mass migration to Europe, and dead civilians— Israel orchestrated all of it to ensure it would stand unopposed in the middle east.
