You have no reason to hit blue other than some inflated sense of moral superiority when in reality pressing red doesn't actually endanger anyone who doesn't willingly put themselves in a line of fire In terms of the trolly problem: Either you and everyone who chooses can untie themselves, OR if 50% of the people choose to fiddle with the ropes together then everybody is untied why wouldn't you just untie yourself? And in the original hypothetical it states that babies and senile people aren't playing or that they have full knowledge of the consequences. Therefore it's not necessarily 'empathetic' to hit blue as in reality you're not saving anyone but instead putting yourself at risk

Yeah the math proves that red is optimal, but in reality not everyone is gonna pick red and other people are also gonna pick blue because of this. you would need 100% of humanity to pick red for everyone to survive, but only 50% of humanity to pick blue for everyone to survive

We are merely Humans. Humans that want to Live. Survive. Death cannot be undone. Why we choose to unite is merely out of Comfort. Comfort that tells you that you made the Right and Justified choice. Isnt the question basically saying that ur guaranteed to survive if u hit red? If the question excludes people who wont understand then everyone should come to the conclusion hitting red is the better option.
